Cookie and Tracking Notice
Essential storage
The website keeps you signed in with one cookie, set when you sign in. Scripts on the page cannot read it, your browser sends it only to OnTheFarm, it lasts up to seven days, and signing out clears it. The website also uses local browser storage to remember preferences, deduplicate content, and restore your feed. Cloudflare may process network and security metadata to deliver and protect the service.
In the iOS app, a Stanford sign-in made inside the app keeps its cookies in a web store of its own on your iPhone, and the session cookies that would end when the app closes are kept in the device keychain for at most seven days. They stay on the device, are never sent to OnTheFarm, and are cleared when you sign out of OnTheFarm.
Analytics and ads
OnTheFarm may measure aggregate page and feature use. The iOS app includes Google Mobile Ads and Google's consent tooling. Before any ad is requested it asks Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission: if you allow it, Google can use the device's advertising identifier to personalize and measure ads, and if you do not, ads are not personalized. That is the only question the app asks; it does not show Google's own consent form, and where the law requires consent before ads it requests none. Optional consent must not be preselected. Provider SDKs may collect device, advertising, diagnostics, interaction, and approximate-location data according to configuration and their policies. GIF search in chats uses KLIPY, which receives your search words from OnTheFarm's server, without your account number or any other identifier.
Your choices
You can choose Ask App Not to Track when the iOS app asks, change that later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, change app privacy settings, clear website storage, or use browser controls.
