AI and Sprout Disclosure
Sprout is OnTheFarm's AI feature. Siri and Apple Intelligence can open OnTheFarm shortcuts, but they are not Sprout and do not directly power its answers.
What may be shared
When you choose an AI feature, OnTheFarm may send your prompt, bounded app context, approximate location or selected radius, and relevant public event text to configured processors such as Google Gemini, Cloudflare Workers AI, AI Gateway, and Browser Rendering. Sprout's answers mostly come from Google Gemini; when Gemini is unavailable, some tasks use Workers AI models instead (gpt-oss-120b for text, Llama 4 Scout for pictures). Private messages, private groups, contact lists, payment tokens, and QR credentials are not general Sprout context, and Sprout never reads what your messages say. If you turn on Friends nearby & notifications, Sprout can read your recent notifications; for a message notification it sees who wrote and when, not the message.
Sprout's agent
In the iOS app, Sprout's chat runs through an agent that belongs to your account alone and opens only with your sign-in. Questions about your own circle (friends nearby, your notifications, where you have been today) are answered only when you turn on Friends nearby & notifications in Profile → Privacy & Sprout AI, which starts off. Then a Workers AI model, GLM-4.7-flash, can look up the names of friends sharing their live location with you as a distance, never as coordinates, statuses friends made visible to friends, and your recent notifications, without the text of messages. With it off, Sprout tells you how to turn it on and looks nothing up. Other questions go to Sprout's Gemini answer. The agent keeps a copy of your current conversation, which the app replaces when you start a new chat or switch conversations, and, if you choose Add My Location with that switch on, up to 50 approximate positions (about 1 km), of which only the last 24 hours are used. Pictures and source text
Pictures you attach to a Sprout question, and flyers you scan, are read by an AI model (Google Gemini, or Llama 4 Scout on Workers AI when Gemini is unavailable). What a picture says reaches Sprout beside your question, never inside it, marked as untrusted text from whoever made the picture. OnTheFarm's AI prompts are written to treat words inside images, web pages, and emails as content to describe, never as instructions to follow.
Consent and control
AI-data sharing is separate from general Terms acceptance. Optional AI personalization should remain off until you choose it. You can use core account and non-AI event features without granting optional AI sharing.
Limits
AI output can be inaccurate, stale, biased, or manipulated by source text; treating source text as untrusted reduces that risk but cannot remove it. Verify dates, locations, accessibility, prices, safety, transit, and seller details with the linked provider. Sprout cannot authorize payments, publish an event, alter roles, or reveal private content without the app's separate authoritative action and confirmation.
